China Glaze Deviantly Daring

Tomorrow (well, technically today) I don't have any class! We have a bit of a break for a special mass of some sort, but I am using my break to shop and sleep in! I figured tonight would be perfect for a late-night blog session.

This polish is one that has quickly jumped into my favorites of all time. China Glaze Deviantly Daring is from the Bohemian collection, and I used it as a base for my gradient the other day. It is saturated and super shiny! Deviantly Daring does have a teal to blue duochrome effect as well, though it is a bit hard to capture at times. There are minimal brushstrokes considering the fact that Deviantly Daring is both metallic and duochrome. That makes me a happy blogger :) In these pictures, I am wearing 2 thin coats.

Pretty, right? Well, wait till you see this next shot. I know it's an odd angle, and I know my cleanup isn't the best... but look at the colors! I love how to duochrome in Deviantly Daring comes out to play.

There you have it! Once again, I love the Bohemian polishes from China Glaze. You gotta trust me on this one -- it's gorgeous. Deviantly Daring is unique to my collection and I just love how bold the color is!

Have you tried any duochrome polishes from China Glaze? What do you think?

China Glaze Bohemian Gradient

So, I moved into my first apartment ever two days ago! It has been a busy few days, and I am so excited to be here in Saint Louis again. My friend Sarah and I are living together with a kitty, too :) Now that I am moved in here, I can get back to posting more regularly!

Today I have a really special manicure for you. China Glaze was kind enough to send me two shades from the Bohemian Collection, Deviantly Daring and Rare & Radiant. I also purchased Unpredictable, because it was too pretty to pass up! When I saw the three of them lined up, I knew I had to create a gradient with them.

For this manicure, I layered each color using a makeup sponge. First I applied Deviantly Daring and let it dry. Can I just say that Deviantly Daring is awesome?! It is so vibrant and gorgeous. Then I painted Unpredictable and Rare & Radiant onto a makeup sponge and applied them to my nails. On top is one coat of Seche Vite. I love this method of doing gradients because they turn out so smooth!

Isn't it gorgeous?! I just love how the colors flow from one to the next. China Glaze killed it on this collection! All of the polishes I tried went on beautifully and with little to no visible brushstrokes.

Oh yeah, I wanted to show you this bonus picture I took of this gradient in the shade.

Yum! The shade really allows the duochrome to come out and play. Just stunning.

Barielle Shades Slate of Affairs

Today I have a new-to-me brand, Barielle Shades. I have only tried one before, and wanted to try out some more! They were generous enough to let me pick a few polishes to try, and I am excited to show you my first choice.

This is Slate of Affairs, a gorgeous dark blue base with a flash of bright blue shimmer. I like the dusty quality that the base has because it makes the color just that much more unique. I also like the formula on this shade. It is thin, but easy to apply and control. I used 3 thin coats for these pictures.

Remember to click them for a closer look :D

So, for my first experience with Barielle Shades, I have to say I am very happy. The bottles are cute, I had no brush issues, and the formula was very nice. The best part, though, is that Slate of Affairs is just beautiful.

The only color I can think of that is similar to this is Jelly Jeans Queen. But on the nail, the Barielle pulls a touch more purple. So, I would rule these as not dupes. It is definitely good to have both :)

Have you tried Barielle Shades? Any favorites I should try?

    20th Birthday Cupcakes!

Last Tuesday, I celebrated my 20th birthday! Of course, I had to do a special birthday manicure :) Last year, I did freehand ice cream cones. This year, I decided to go with birthday cupcakes!

Here's a huge picture of them!

I worked hard on these and used lots and lots of different polishes. To see exactly what I used, keep reading!

    China Glaze Purr-Fect Plum

Guess what?! I turned 20 years old on Tuesday! I did do a very cute cupcake mani, but I still have to edit photos and post them for you all. Prepare yourselves -- it's pretty adorable! :)

In the meantime, I have a gorgeous crème for you. China Glaze was generous enough to send some polishes for review from their new On Safari collection. This one is called Purr-Fect Plum, and it really is perfect! At first, I worried that the berry shade might be a little boring. It isn't!

The color is deep but easily wearable, and the formula is spot on. Two easy, smooth coats of China Glaze Purr-Fect Plum was all I needed. I am not even wearing topcoat in these pictures -- Purr-Fect Plum is just that shiny! This polish just looks classy and gorgeous.

Somehow, China Glaze took your typical berry shade and turned it into a beautiful, deep crème that really shines. I am impressed by Purr-Fect Plum, and I didn't expect to be. Frankly, I love it.
