Aly Loves Lacquer

Hey, guys and gals! As you see by the title, I have found the PERFECT Thanksgiving manicure. Though they might not celebrate Thanksgiving in England, this Butter London polish is perfect for the season.

Butter London Scuppered is a very unique blend of colors. The base is a nice copper brown foil, sprinkled with tiny green glitters. There are also small pink and golden flecks that add a bit of extra depth to the lacquer. I have never seen a color even close to Scuppered! Plus, application was really nice on this one -- just two thin coats.

These photos were taken outdoors, in cloudy weather. I think the shade allows you to see all the components really well!




Yeah, so I love this. The mixture of colors and textures is so unique, plus it really has an autumnal feel to it. I can envision myself wearing this at the Thanksgiving dinner table.

Hey, guys! I am back. I am all settled in at school and a couple weeks into my junior year. Sorority recruitment just ended at SLU, so I finally have the time to blog again. Plus, I have 50-something awesome new sorority sisters!

Anyway, today I have a really special polish for you. Dodgy Barnett is part of butter LONDON's Fall 2012 offering. Dodgy Barnett is a silver holographic polish. In true butter LONDON fashion, the formula is awesome! Holographic polishes are notorious for finicky application, but I had no issues. I used my normal base coat plus 3 coats of Dodgy Barnett. On top, I have a coat of Seche Vite, which did not seem to dull the holographic effect at all.

Wanted to let you girls know about a really good butter LONDON deal. Right now you can get 3 polishes for $30! I know I love BL, and usually they are much more expensive, so I wanted to pass this on :)

A couple months ago, butter LONDON announced the launch of some lovely lip glosses called Lippy. Each shade of Lippy matches one of butter LONDON's nail lacquers. I have never even thought of matching my lips to my nails, but I think it is a really cute idea. It would definitely make you look very put together!

First up is Teddy Girl, the polish version. Teddy Girl is a very light, delicate pink crème that takes 3 coats to be opaque. To be honest, it looked very pigmented so I thought that 2 coats would be enough. But, 3 coats is not bad and I think the outcome is very classy.

Good evening! Of all the higher end brands, butter LONDON is definitely on my list of favorites. They consistently put out interesting colors with good formulas. Slapper is no different.

I am back! I had an awesome time in New York, and bought my first Illamasqua polishes at the Sephora right in Times Square. It was a great trip, and I can't wait to swatch those polishes for you soon. For today, I have a beautiful glowy teal color called Thames. I love the description of it on Butter London's site: A soft, blue-green stunner, with just a tiny undercurrent of gold. Much like a dip in the Thames; it’s not for the faint hearted, but you will be remembered for it. 


This is only the second Butter London I have tried, and once again I had no application issues at all. It was beautiful and opaque in two easy coats. These pictures show 2 coats Butter London Thames and 1 coat Seche Vite.


What do you think of this shade? I really like the way it seems to glow on the nail. It makes a dark color very easy to wear, even in the summer. Thanks for bearing with the long delay in posts! I am now back in full swing with lots of pretty polishes to show you.

It's Wednesday again, and time for another beautiful pink. This week I have Butter London Twee, a bright pink jelly with lots of silvery shimmer. The bottle is larger than most Butter London polishes and has special labeling on the front that indicates it is a jelly. Twee is my first ever Butter London lacquer, and I like it a lot. Since it is a jelly, it took a good 4 coats to be opaque. I absolutely LOVE jellies though, so I was fine with doing that. The finish is squishy just like every good jelly should be.

This color made me feel very girly. I love a nice jelly finish, and the shimmer really kicked it up a notch. I definitely will be investing in more Butter London polishes after trying out the lovely Twee.
