NOTD: Julep Sienna

Quick NOTD post today! I am going to Summerfest with my boyfriend and my sorority sister Sarah today, and we are seeing Train & Kelly Clarkson. After that concert, we will probably go see Fun. I am pretty excited!

I'm wearing Julep Sienna today, because I think this gold foil shade goes well with my Summerfest outfit. Matchy-matchy, I guess :) Julep Sienna is really nice as far as foils go. I've had trouble with some foil finish polishes dragging like crazy, but Sienna has a smooth application. It took 2 coats to reach opacity, and I am wearing Seche Vite on top.

I would describe this shade as a champagne gold -- it isn't too yellow at all. Many times very yellow gold shades look terrible on my hands, but I think Sienna is light and delicate enough that I can pull it off.

I received Julep Sienna in a Maven Box. If you want to join the Maven program, using my referral link will get you a great deal on your first shipment!

butter LONDON Teddy Girl and Trout Pout + Lippy!

A couple months ago, butter LONDON announced the launch of some lovely lip glosses called Lippy. Each shade of Lippy matches one of butter LONDON's nail lacquers. I have never even thought of matching my lips to my nails, but I think it is a really cute idea. It would definitely make you look very put together!

First up is Teddy Girl, the polish version. Teddy Girl is a very light, delicate pink crème that takes 3 coats to be opaque. To be honest, it looked very pigmented so I thought that 2 coats would be enough. But, 3 coats is not bad and I think the outcome is very classy.

Next up is my favorite of the two polishes: Trout Pout. This shade is so perfect for summer and spring. It is a pinky coral crème that makes my hands look very tan. The color is just gorgeous! This took 2 coats to reach opacity.

Here is a look at both of the butter LONDON Lippy shades as well.

As you can see, the Lippy shades are super close to the polishes themselves. I think that these two polishes are perfect for the summer seasons.

 Which do you prefer?

Introducing... Couronne d'Or Vernis!

Hi everyone! I have been posting pretty intermittently lately, but there is a good reason why. I have been working hard at making my very own line of indie nail polish!

Couronne d'Or Vernis has become my baby :) The name means golden crown, and I hope that each of these polishes will make the wearer feel like a queen. My first collection is called Crown Jewels, and features 5 glitter toppers to add some excitement to any mani. Take a look!

So, there they are! I have been working so hard on creating polish that I feel is unique and beautiful. This line is my pride and joy!

I also have a special patriotic polish I've created for the London Olympics and 4th of July! It has lots of red, white, and blue glitters of all shapes and sizes. What really makes it special, though, are the hearts that add a little something extra.

I really hope that you like all the Couronne d'Or Vernis polishes that I have worked so hard to create. The past few weeks have consisted of lots of mixing and experimenting, and I am so happy with these creations.

If you'd like to purchase one of my polishes, please take a look at my shop HERE.

With love,

Stunning China Glaze Summer Neons!

Hey guys and gals! Today I have 3 beautiful summer shades by China Glaze for you. These were released as part of the Summer Neons collection, which you should still be able to find in beauty stores and online.

First, we have a lovely neon with shimmer called Hang-Ten Toes. Now, we have all seen hot pink neons done over and over again, but the strong shimmer in Hang-Ten Toes really makes it special. In fact, it kind of reminds of the shimmer that I love in China Glaze Turned Up Turquoise. Application on this was fine, but it did take 3 coats. Also, since it is a neon, it dries to a satiny matte finish. This swatch shows it with top coat, because that really brings out the gorgeous shimmah!

Click the macro shot for up close shimmer!

Next up is the first of two jellies, Ride the Waves. This blue jelly is totally unique to me! I do have Revlon Royal, which is a very well known and beautiful dark blue jelly. But Ride the Waves stands apart because of it's super bright blue color. And you know me, I love a good jelly. The finish is so squishy! This was 3 easy coats as well, though I do have a bit of bubbling in the photo.

Last, but not least, here's Under the Boardwalk. The Polishaholic seems to have discovered a second version of this jelly... Mine is the bright magenta version. This was the color that jumped out at me the least in the bottle, but boy, do I love it on the nail! First off, it applies like buttah. Absolutely perfect, it practically paints itself. The jelly finish is to die for. It is so juicy, so squishy... just your perfect jelly. I have fallen hard for Under the Boardwalk. It's amazing. 3 easy coats here!

Seriously juicy!

So, there you have it! These three shades are new for Summer 2012 and should be available at your local beauty supply or easily found online. My personal favorite is Under the Boardwalk, but you simply can't go wrong when picking from these three!

Did you pick up any Summer Neons? Which is your fave?

The Entire Salon Perfect Line! Photos & Review

So, this monster of a post has taken me quite awhile. There are 14 colors in the Salon Perfect line. Since it is a new line, I wanted to be sure to wear each one so I could report back on wear time. With apologies for the delay, please enjoy all the pictures of these lovely new polishes! Pictures first, and reviews at the end!

Perfectly Peach
2 coats
"delicate peach"

Lemon Zing
3 coats
"sunny yellow"

Kiwi Lime
4 thin coats
"vibrant green"

Blue Mint
2 coats
"cheerful mint"

Berry Blue
2 coats
"classic periwinkle"

Purple Sorbet
2 coats
 "dark lilac"

Lavender Icing
2 coats
"soft lilac"

Spicy Tomato
3 thin coats
"juicy red"

Tangy Tangerine
2 coats
"tart orange"

Sour Apples
2 coats
"true blue-green"

Blue Raspberry
2 coats
"vivid azure"

Plum Sorbet
3 thin coats
"magenta with purple shimmer"

Berry Pink
3 thin coats
"bold flamingo pink"

3 thin coats
"honeysuckle pink"

Lots of pretty colors, huh? I was impressed by the range of colors and finishes in the Salon Perfect line. There are your classic pinks and reds, but also some night brights like Lemon Zing and Kiwi Lime.

As far as application, most of these polishes were awesome! Spicy Tomato, Tangy Tangerine, Kiwi Lime, and Berry Blue all have a nice jelly crème finish. That was an unexpected surprise. While I love a jelly finish of any kind, it is important to note that most of those polishes do take 3 coats to reach opacity.

I did have some trouble with the formula on Lemon Zing and Lavender Icing. Both were quite think, but still look nice on the nail with no bubbles. You could always add a few drops of thinner if you prefer an easier application.

My favorites from the collection are...
   • Plum Sorbet -- the shimmer and color itself are both super beautiful and attention-grabbing
   • Kiwi Lime -- the jelly crème finish and unique shade are a great combination
   • Perfectly Peach -- this polish gives my hands an instant tan
   • Bubblegum -- this light pink looks vibrant and I love the juicy shimmer

So, there you have it! I hope you enjoyed all the pictures. Overall, I was impressed by Salon Perfect. I was not sure what to expect, but I really like many of these shades and finishes.

These polishes can be found at Walmart for $2.98 a bottle.

A Fun Summer Dotticure

Here is another look I did with the new Salon Perfect line. At first, I was simply swatching the pink base, but then I felt like jazzing it up with lots and lots of dots. I used a bunch of different Salon Perfect shades and multiple sizes of dotting tools. To me, this look is just so fun and bright and perfect for summer.

I don't have the exact list of all the colors I used, but if you have a question about any of them let me know!

I wore this to a family get together and a bonfire and I got quite a few compliments on it. I love dotting manicures because they are very easy to do, but they look really complex. Plus all the bright colors made this look stand out with very little effort.
